Description
The InTENSity Twin Stim™ III is a portable electrotherapy device featuring two therapeutic modes: TENS & NMES therapy, which are used for pain relief and muscle stimulation. The unit is among the upper echelon of pain relief devices, with a maximum output of 105mA, and it also comes standard with an AC Adapter and removable belt clip for easy, at-home use and convenience. This device comes equipped with four pre-set, clinically-tested, pain-relieving TENS treatment programs making it one of the easiest, and most effective, TENS devices available on the market today.
Mechanism of Action:
TENS
- Small electrical impulses are sent through the skin to stimulate the nerves
- The impulses interact with the nerves and block impulses from the area
- The effects of these blocks modify pain perception within the affected area
- Effective for chronic intractable pain, acute post-traumatic pain, acute post-operative pain and arthritic pain
NMES
- Small electrical impulses are sent through the skin to stimulate the muscles
- This input causes the muscle to contract
- These repeated contractions increase strength, range of motion and offset the effects of disuse

Pre-set Electrotherapy Protocols:
TENS
- Burst
- Burst Rate adjustable from 0.5 - 5Hz, pulse width from 50-300µS, frequency fixed at 10Hz
- Normal
- Continuous stimulation with adjustable pulse rate & width
- Pulse Width Modulation Mode (Modulation 1)
- Pulse width decreases to 60% in one cycle, and increases back to original value in following cycle.
- Pulse rate, pulse width, and cycle time are adjustable.
- Pulse Rate Modulation Mode (Modulation 2)
- Pulse Rate decreases to 60% in one cycle, and increases back to original value in following cycle.
- Pulse rate, pulse width, and cycle time are adjustable.
NMES
- Ramp Time:
- Adjustable from 1-6 seconds.
- Determines the time to reach set output level from zero, and from set output level to zero.
- On / Off Time:
- On time controls contraction time, adjustable from 1-60 seconds.
- Off time controls relaxation time, adjustable from 0-60 seconds.
- 3 EMS Modes:
- Synchronous (S)
- Synchronized stimulation of 2 channels.
- Ramp duration, ramp up, ramp down, pulse rate, & pulse width are all adjustable.
- Asynchronous/Alternate (A)
- As per Synchronous Mode except that stimulation of Channel 2 occurs when contraction of Channel 1 is complete.
- Delay (D)
- As per Synchronous Mode except that stimulation of Channel 2 begins after adjustable delay after Channel 1 stimulation begins.
